Ramayana in Odissi Dance

NAVARASA ("Nine Moods") - page 4

Demonstration: Mood of Love

Final Performance of this piece of the dance.

MOOD ONE - LOVE

The very first mood (illustrated  in this dance) is love, and love expressed with the face and hands. The feeling in the heart. That is love. Lord Ram always holds the bow and the arrow, and Sita holding her veil. So when she sees a pond and the fish swimming in the pond, she shares the beauty with her husband Ram. Then she sees a blooming lotus and a butterfly coming towards the flower, attracted with the fragrance to collect the honey, and flies away. That makes Sita happy and filled with joy.
