LOGISTICAL INFORMATION
Location
The class will be held from 9:00 A.M to 4:00 P.M. in the conference room of the Institute of East Asian Studies at the University of California, Berkeley, Sixth Floor, 2223 Fulton Street in Berkeley. Telephone (510) 642-2809; Fax (510) 643-7062. The institute is located at the southwest corner of campus near the corner of Bancroft Way and Fulton Street. Please see enclosed map.
Directions
To reach the site by car from Interstate 80, exit at the University Avenue off-ramp in Berkeley. Take University Avenue east to Oxford Street and turn right. Oxford becomes Fulton Street in a couple of blocks. 2223 Fulton Street is a six-story beige building on the east (left) side of the street.
To reach us from Highways 24/13, exit 13 at Tunnel Road in Berkeley. Continue on Tunnel Road as it becomes Ashby. Turn right at Telegraph and drive approximately one mile north to Bancroft Way and turn left. The 2223 Fulton Street Building is at the northeast corner of the Bancroft and Fulton intersection (right side).
If traveling by BART, exit the Richmond-Fremont line at the Berkeley station (not North Berkeley). When you leave the BART station, walk south down Shattuck Avenue to Kittredge Street (one or two blocks depending on which station exit you leave from) and turn left. Walk one block to Fulton Street and you will be facing the 2223 Fulton Street Building.
Parking
Parking is available in the Bancroft/Fulton campus parking lot near the institute site for $11 for the five-day program. You may purchase a temporary student parking pass through ORIAS by sending in a $11 check payable to U. C. Regents to ORIAS, UCB, 2223 Fulton St Rm 338 #2324, Berkeley, CA 94720-2324. We will mail you a pass or hold it for pick-up here.
To park in the university lot if coming from I-80: continue south on Fulton, cross Bancroft, and at the next intersection turn left onto Durant Avenue. Stay in the left lane, turn left into the second driveway -- this leads into the Bancroft/Fulton parking lot. If coming from Highways 24/13: while on Bancroft pass Ellsworth and turn left into the Bancroft/Fulton parking lot.
Meals
We will serve coffee and pastries at 8:30 AM and light refreshments during the morning and afternoon breaks. On Monday, Thursday and Friday we will host a buffet lunch on the premises to give all the participants a chance to meet and talk. On Tuesday and Wednesday you will take lunch on your own. The institute is adjacent to downtown Berkeley where there are a number of interesting restaurants.
Credits
Participants are eligible to enroll for 2 graduate credits through U. C. Berkeley Summer Sessions.
Housing
