Cultural Interaction in the Medieval World

UC Berkeley's International and Area Studies
 Summer Institute for Teachers

July 19-23,  1999

International and Area Studies' 1999 Summer Institute for teachers will  follow the trail of medieval travelers like Ibn Battuta, Marco Polo and Zheng He as these intrepid adventurers cross the borders of cultural regions spreading goods, culture, science and religion.  Join us for an exploration of world history from the perspective of cultural interaction.

The format will be a combination of lectures by University scholars, an introduction to resources at the University and on the World Wide Web, and guided working sessions for teachers to discuss and develop curriculum materials for the middle and high school classroom.
